There were molds for all tastes, "Cookie Monster" in "Superman"! But the food trends, as decoration, evolve. And now the cake "IN" is decorated with fondant.

I watched for some time an artist in the field on facebook: MIMI CAKES. In fact, I even booked him a cake for the party of my daughter Lily-Rose. Then she announced that she would offer courses. What a joy! I waited a long time the event ...

When we arrived, the table is already full of products ... What happiness for a passionate like me!

Tens of equipment and products that I am looking forward to trying.

The beautiful Mimi ALL you need!

A cake waiting for us all, and Mimi tells us first icing the cake with butter cream, which then host the fondant.

Then we learn to make fondant home

Stuff Mimi are really well explained and the steps are clear. She then tells us to color the fondant.

It is shaped arms, because it takes long enough to knead the dough!

Colors based on the well, then roll it ... ready to expand on the cake!

And here! This step is the most complex to run, because it requires that the flux is covering the round cake without creases ... It is therefore necessary to stretch the dough ... but not too much! Otherwise, it rocks!

Then the excess size!

Mimi then tells us to make roses, calla lilies, carnations ... short ALL FULL beautiful things!

Here MA pink! She is successful, but I chose not to decorate my cake with roses (It's a bit too long to do!)

I finally made a cake to die (faster) I decorated for Easter! The cake can be frozen! I will therefore serve our Easter party!

I can not wait to do more! I think it will be expensive to store accessories decorations cake! (YES YES 'I know he is very busy! What do you want? I love it as well!)

Decorate a cake, instructions

The fondant is beautiful on cakes, but because how we do it?

I do it myself ...

the ingredients
- 500 g of granulated sugar
- 150 ml of water
- 1 sugar thermometer

The steps to create a basis
Step 1:
Heat the ingredients in a large saucepan until a temperature of 114 ° C. Then place the pan in cold water so that the temperature will be 75 ° C.

Step 2:
Mix with mixer until a homogeneous white paste.
Work hand as if it were a pastry, then place in an airtight container in the refrigerator for at least 24 h before use.

Step 3:
This basis can thus be kept cool for a year. To use it, simply to draw the correct quantity, lightly heat in the microwave and pour over dessert. It is better to go first on the cake with a thin layer of jam, so that crumbs mingle fondant.

where ?? I'll buy it!
You will find the white fondant (or brands Marguerite Wilton) ready sold 1 kg per pot on www.mora.fr www.meilleurduchef.com and commercial sites, as well as wide range of colors and even a tube of white icing for draw on cookies. We use the flux in the same way as in the previous recipe.

Marshmallow fondant to decorate a cake

My sister Charlotte was 9 years (9 years! Already!!) 2 weeks ago and for the occasion, I threw myself into making the marshmallow fondant to decorate the cake.

What the fudge? It is a sugar paste that has a texture similar to the dough that is rolled like a fine paste to cover the cake (wedding cakes are often covered) or we tinker to make figurines and other decorations. It is surprisingly easy to do ... the fondant I mean ... for decoration, it depends on your talent and / or the time you go to. In my case, as my basic talent in visual arts is limited, I put a lot of time! :)

For the cake Charlotte, I made little penguins and a "puffle" above an igloo cake for my big fan of Club Penguin.

I initially found the recipe based on the site of the Lover desserts.

Ingredients:
1 bag of mini marshmallows (250g)
3 cups (more or less) icing sugar (330 g)
1 tablespoon water tea
Vegetable oil or shortening (do not put in the recipe is to grease your dish and your hands!)

Preparation:
1. Generously oil the inside of a large bowl in the microwave.

2. Put the marshmallows in the bowl and add water. Place marshmallows and melt at once 15 seconds, stirring after each, until completely melted (it's faster)

3. Although oil your worktop and pour icing sugar. Pour marshmallows on sugar and knead by bringing marshmallows on sugar to the center.

4. Knead until the dough has "absorbed" all the sugar and it is the consistency of a fine paste that stands out.

5. The dough will keep in the fridge. Put a few seconds in the microwave to soften it before work.

6. For color, use food coloring gel (or powder) for bright colors. A board girlfriend: color your fondant putting GLOVES ... otherwise you'll stained hands for at least two days (and I speak from experience!)

Verdict: This is easier to do than it looks ... it takes a lot of patience by cons. And taste, what it tastes like? It tastes like sugar ... I mean, overdose of sugar! :)
